Why does shakespeare open scene 2 with hamlet offering acting lessons to the player? How does this advance the plot, develop character to help to establish theme?

Just as the play is about to begin, Hamlet instructs the players on the art of acting, telling them to act naturally and to avoid bombast. He sets the players to their preparations and then conferences with Horatio. Hamlet likes to be in control of his intellectual plan to catch the "conscience of the King." Hamlet is completely invested in this play proving his uncle's guilt.
