ACT IV, Sc. 3, Lines 4-5: What theme is echoed by Claudius in these lines? Comment on the irony that Claudius is making in this statement.

King. He's loved of the distracted multitude,

Who like not their judgment but their eyes,

And where 'tis so, th'offender's scourge is weighed,

But never the offence.

The king complains that the public likes Hamlet because they only judge with their eyes. They do not really look at the true personality of the person. The irony is that the same think could be said about Claudius.
