Describe the relationship between Laertes and his sister, Ophelia.

Laertes loves his sister but like most Elizabethan males, he seeks to control her. Before he leaves for France, he gives a big speech to her instructing her on keeping away from Hamlet. His undertone is all about her sexual habits and "honour". Ophelia does acknowledge this but points out that he is not a great example of morality himself. Men, however, had much more discretion than women back then.
