Hamlet
Did Claudius experience any growth or changes during the story (explain)?
?
?
Claudius is deceitful and completely focused on attaining the throne at any cost, which he does. He's a murderer, a plotter, and a liar, but we do see different sides of him appear throughout the text.
In Act III, we see Claudius ask God's forgiveness.......... a change, but even though he willingly confesses, he will not willingly give up what he has murdered to attain.
My fault is past. But O, what form of prayer
Can serve my turn? "Forgive me my foul murder"?
That cannot be, since I am still possess'd
Of those effects for which I did the murder,
My crown, mine own ambition, and my queen.

Somehow half of my answer disappeared. We also see Claudius' genuine care for Ophelia, but in contrast, we see him give the opposite type of care to Gertrude (whom he allows to drink the poison).
