Before his father's death and his mother's remarriage, yes. After that, not as much.

"I loved Ophelia; forty thousand brothers

Could not, with all their quantity of love,

Make up my sum."

Your second quote indicates that he did love Ophelia. I think answer to the original question is a bit more complex than yes or no.

You're right, it is complex, and as I stated the first time..... yes, he loved her. I have no doubt in my mind that he loved Ophelia, but in the end, his desperation to convince everyone of his madness caused him to brush her aside (if you can call it that). His intention was to destroy her hopes because there was no hope. The quote above was a declaration made at her graveside, and depending upon interpretaion "love" can be taken in a few different ways.

sorry, that was supposed to be "loved." He uses "loved" rather than love or "I have loved."

Um how can "I loved Ophelia; forty thousand brothers ..." be taken any other way. The guy is screaming this at her graveside. Hamlet is an incredibly flawed individual. True, he's a big jerk to Ophelia but a statement of yes or no takes a more elaborate arguement.
