Hamlet
Hamlet 's Observations
Thanks to everyone who's been helping me out!
In Act I, scene v, What observation is Hamlet making when he says, "Meet it is I set it down / that one may smile, and smile, and be a villain"?

Claudius is a pretty slimy guy. He is the sort of guy who would smile and smile at you while stabbing you in the back; he's kind of like a really nasty used car salesman. Hamlet wants to write down so he will remember that although Claudius smiles and knows how to say the right things, he is a villain underneath. Hamlet wants to remember this as he plans his revenge.
Thanks again, Aslan!
No problems! Glad to be of help.
