How does Claudius and Gertrudes' convincing of Hamlet not to return to Wittenberg contrast with Laertes situation?

Laertes wants to go to France. According to Polonius, his father, he is probably sleeping with prostitutes and gambling. Still, everyone (including the King) is happy to tell him to skedaddle. Claudius and Gertrude, however, want Hamlet to stick around. I think Claudius wants to weasel his way into Hamlet's good books and his mother probably just wants her son to be around.
