how does claudius give the impression of power upon his grand entrance?

Claudius certainly wants to give the impression of power. When we first see Claudius, he is addressing the Royal Court. He is all decked out in his kingly gear with much pagentry and pomp.He desperately wishes to get this whole mourning thing of his dead brother out of the way,

Claudius wants to be everybody's friend. He is slimy that way. By marrying Gertrude he hopes to solidify his power even futher. Now if he could only convince depressed Hamlet to look upon him as as a "father".
