How is Hamlet Self-absorbed?

Yes, Hamlet is pretty much self-absorbed. From Act one Hamlet is absorbed in his own melancholy. He will have nothing to do with the King and Queen's festivities. Now, we can forgive Hamlet for this. His father has recently died and his mother has just jumped into the sheets with his uncle. Hamlet becomes so obsessed with his revenge that he forsakes everybody that still holds meaning to him. Hamlet claims to have "loved Ophelia more than 40 000 brothers ever could", but is content to call her hoer and watch her self-destruct. In the end, Hamlet is unable to shake himself. He is so absorbed in his own melancholy that he welcomes death.
