The Elizabethans believe that ghost and other unworldly spirits came from hell or some sort of netherworld. They fear that the ghost is, in fact, evil and that the ghost might try to lure Hamlet to some self-destructive action. They are very concerned that he will not come back at all or that he will not be the same person he was when they were luring him.
