He uses the locket which she wears around her neck to compare and contrast the pictures of the two brothers. He compares his father to some of the most notable of the Roman gods: Hyperion (the sun god), Jove (the chief god), Mars (the god of war) and Mercury (the messenger god). In every way he believes his father was the perfect example of a man. He then calls Claudius a mildew'd ear (of corn), saying that he has caused his brother to wither. He asks her, do you have eyes, implying that she cannot see what is so obvious to him.
