Hamlet uses metaphor to describe Denmark's present state. He likens Denmark to an "unweeded garden" to dramatize the rotten state of politics and morality. He also uses Greek mythology to compare the weakness of his uncle to the superiority of his late father, “So excellent a king, that was to this/Hyperion to a satyr.” Again Hamlet uses figurative language to illustrate just how bad his uncle is, "My father's brother, but no more like my father / Than I to Hercules.
