Why is "To be, or not to be" such a memorable line?

Hamlet captures what we all have thought about, in passing at least, at some point in our life. Is it really worth it to take all the pain and abuse that life hands us? The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, seem to buffet us at every turn. Hamlet considers if it might not be better to kill oneself and end all our misfortunes once and for all. Of course the catch or "rub" is that we do not know if the afterlife is better or worse than our present life.
