3 reasons why you think novel’s happy ending manufactured and 3 reasons why you think the novel's happy ending is real

I suppose this depends how romantic you are. It is plausible father's stories are an extended metaphor but not probable. I suppose mother could come back saying she was mistaken to run off with another man, but would things really be the same. Sorry I know you wanted three points for each but such logic doesn't lend well to the magic realism that this story contains.
