Heart of Darkness
it has been remarked that there are two marlowes in heart of Darkness. does this claim make sense to you how might the existence of two marlowes affect the narration of the text

heart of darkness
I think there is the Marlow before he reached the Congo and the Marlow by the end of the story. Marlow's experiences before he left did not prepare him for what he would witness. Marlow had a tacit acceptance for colonialism as a matter of course. By the time he left, Marlow was sickened by these "white devils" who use and abuse everything they can. By the end of the novel we get the sense that the "Heart of Darkness" lies in the hearts of the white imperialists more than it lies in the Congo.
