What does Marlow learn about his boat and Kurtz from the manager at centurion station??

Marlow finds that the steamer, which he was to command, had sunk. The general manager had taken an ill-trainned skipper out in the boat and had bashed the boat on some rocks. Marlow thinks that sinking the boat was a ploy to prevent him from reaching Kurtz.
