What is one truth you learned about residential schools on Vancouver island that stands out most to you? What makes it stand out to you?

I knew about the horrid history of residential schools in Canada. Books like Richard Wagamese's award-winning novel Indian Horse brought these injustices to people that might not be aware this dark chapter in Canadian history. I was a little surprised by the sheer amount of child graves found in the Kamloops area but I was aware of the pain inflicted on aboriginal peoples across Canada.
