Sally's father wants to protect his daughter, but she is rebellious.... enjoying the attention she garners, and even encouraging it until it's time to return home. Sally's strict father says that "being this beautiful is dangerous", so she makes sure to arrive home with a "straightened skirt" and downcast eyes directly after school.
