Sire is a boy that Esperanza has a crush on in the neighborhood. Sire has a girlfriend named Lois. Esperanza wishes she could be Lois. Esperanza feels like “everything is holding its breath” inside of her when she sees Lois and Sire interact. She feels like she is going to explode.
