In Interlude, as well as other parts of the book, Forster argues that stories have always been stories and have always served as extensions for new writers and new stories. In essence, he tells us that good writing is a time consuming process..... and sometimes, an author isn't really sure when an idea is his/her own, or whether they've pulled it from something they've learned.
