Chapter 3

In Chapter Three, David meets English tourists, and he helps the British traveler find his glasses. David has a brief conversation with the man and his wife, during which he tells them that he is traveling north to join a circus. The coupke offers David a sandwich, which he accepts, and the English woman refers to the strange beauty of David's eyes.... and the fact that she wishes to see him smile. In the end, David refuses their offer of money and hurries away.
