(Chapter 7) What does the dog do to protect David? How to feel about this?

King attacks the farmer when he threatens David. The farmer's response is to tell David that he's going to take him to the police the next day. Fear of the police causes David to escape that evening.

The dog gets shot for David.

David feels sad but then feels that his life has purpose and as long that dog had died for him, he was going to achieve his goal.
