Describe David’s relationship with God.

David's journey is sparked and motivated by faith in many different forms. David has faith in his belief that his life is worth living and preserving. He believes in the commandant's instructions to go to Denmark, and though he has no reason.... he believes in the goodness of people..... that he will find help along the way. David has faith that there a better life can be found in the distance, that he will find real freedom, and that ultimately..... he will find his mother.... that she will be waiting for him. Lastly, David has religious faith, something he takes for himself from the experiences of his youth, Johannes' example, and a curiosity that over time leads him to Christianity.
