How do you explain Malala's attack in the context of Pakistan's history?

Pakistan's history has been full of violence. The country was created through violence along religious lines. Hindus and Muslims fought over the partition of India. Pakistan was created for Indian Muslims yet religious strife has never left the region. Malala’s experience is an extension of these religious problems manifested in the modern era.
