Much of her treatment was performed at hospitals in Pakistan, but ultimately she was moved to a world-class hospital in Birmingham, England. The hospital was focused on the treatment of those personnel wounded in a conflict, so she was in a place that could treat her injuries. The Pakistani government paid for the costs of her treatment; the British helped her recover and go on to school in England to achieve top-notch grades and ultimately to become a voice for her people and the cause of women's education in her own country.
