Who is Malala?

Malala is the novel's author. She is a young girl, who was raised in Swat Valley, Pakistan. Malala's father was a teacher, so she had the good fortune to attend school her entire life. When the Taliban took control of the valley, they limited the rights of women. Malala spoke out against their actions and for education. She was shot for her actions.
