How does Marguerite develop during her time in the junkyard?

Maya is homeless, and decides to spend the evening in a junkyard car. She is found by a bunch of kids who live in the junkyard; they share everything among the group, and Maya ends up living there among the kids for a month. Marguerite develops an appreciation for sharing and community. Even when the community has little wealth to offer each other, they accept her as she is.
