What are Marguerite's main observations about race relations in San Francisco?

The animosity toward white people that Maya learned in Stamps continues in San Francisco, as she holds as heroes those men who are able to grift white people out of money. This is certainly ironic to hold these men in such high regard, but they are some of the few examples of black people able to triumph over their situation. They are like outlaws, held in high esteem for their exploits and triumphs by the community. But Angelou poses a good question here; if black people are systematically robbed by a system that keeps them down, aren't they justified in robbing back and regaining a little of their dignity in the process?
