The school superintendent, Mr. Donleavy, gives a rather rude speech. He talks of improvements to the white school and mentions a couple of male black athletes from the Lafayette County Training. Maya feels Discouraged that the only thing a black boy can do is be an athletes and black girls do not count at all.
