What do you make of the fact that Achilles cries to his mommy to intervene with the gods to side against Greece?

Achilles feels humiliated and does cry to his mother to intervene so that the Achaeans will suffer. This does not make Achilles to look like a great warrior: he looks more like a "mama's boy".
