Why did Achillus quit fighting for the Greeks?

Achilles doesn't fight for the Greeks because of his pride. After Agamemnon took Briseis, Achilles was extremely angry, his pride was hurt, and because of this Achilles would rather sit back and watch the Greeks lose than help them to win.
