Capote has no relationship to the text. He is completely unbiased in his presentation of the story.
As a differing perspective, I believe Capote is heavily involved with the text. He carefully selects the details that he includes in order to generate sympathy for the killers, particularly Perry. He starts early with the line of four shotgun blasts ending six human lives. The stories about Perry's childhood and abuse at the hands of the nuns really do not have a place in a purely objective novel. If you choose to pursue this line of thinking, I can give you further examples, just respond here. No offense intended Jill. I always enjoy reading your answers.
