All three sisters became national heroes for standing up to the tyranny of the Trujillo dictatorship. All though Dede was the only sister to survive, all three sisters are hailed as non-violent decenters to evil. Their courage and tenacity are admired not only by Dominicans but also by many people around the world. Despite most certain punishment and even death the Mirabel sisters rebelled against one of the worst dictators in history.
