Certainly the "double edge sword" was a part of it. Saul was accepted into the white world of hockey but only if he played their stereotype: a caricature of an Indian warrior savage on skates. This persona didn't fit Saul at all: it destroyed him. Saul didn't have any support in Toronto to overcome it.
