Chapter 25

• Saul moves in with the Kellys in a town called Manitouwadge, which means “Cafe of the Great Spirit” (99).

• Saul notes that the people on the white side of town are “rough-and-tumble and rude.” On Saturdays, fights were a common occurence outside Merle’s Old Time Saloon.

• The first thing Fred showed Saul at the house was the hockey rink.

• Virgil, the captain of Moose, comments on Saul's size (small).

• Virgil told Saul that the other team members will not like him at first.

• Fred takes Saul shopping for his first real set of hockey gear.

• During the first scrimmage, the players would not speak to Saul.

• Saul thought the other player were “like soldiers arming themselves for battle” (102).

• Fred Kelly gave Saul his old jersey.

• Saul was awed by his teammates size and speed. The other player also attempted to intimidate him.

• After scoring his first goal, Saul returned to the bench. His teammates mumbled their appreciation.

• At the end of his first game, Virgil handed Saul a soda, and the other teammates silently lifted their drinks. He was a Moose.
