Because they think it's their game I said. (ch. 24)
Saul has just been introduced to Fred Kelly. Fred explains that they are not permitted to play the white teams because white teams don't think they are good enough. Saul interjects with the real reason: white teams are prejudiced; they think hockey is their game. This is a motif repeated throughout the book.
