What does Saul attracted to the native league? What does he like about it?

Saul finds an actual home in the native league. He is emancipated from the St. Josephs escaping some of the lasting torment that residential school inflict. Fred Kelly gives him the first real home and sense of security that he has ever had. Fred's family adopts Saul as one of their own and Saul's team, the Moose, become his extended family. Within the native league, Saul finds a sense of community void of racism and hate. He travels from village to village skating under Christmas lights and the light of the moon. Saul finds this hauntingly romantic.
