In the Epigraph on chapter 5, what Is the "Dominant Primordial Beast" which Alex is"hailing" in this passage? Who is Captain Ahab and why does Alex say he, too, should be hailed?

McCandless sees himself as the "dominant primordial beast" because like Buck.... he had heeded the call of the wild and was thus far surviving. From the text, we can infer that he is also talking about Captain Ahab, who had survived the attack by Moby Dick.... minus a leg.
