The famous bus is Fairbanks City Transit System Bus 142. It was originally one of three buses used by the Yutan Construction Company to transport the construction crew from Fairbanks to the work site in 1961. The Yutan construction company had hauled two busses to the highway. They left the third one about half way up the trail to be used as a backcountry shelter for hunters and trappers.
