Into the Wild

In the book Into the Wild, does Krakauer have the right to infer from the photograph that McCandless had the serenity of a monk?

This is a question from an Into the Wild module. It is activity 33 question 2. If you can help me out with this question that would be great. Thank you!

THIS QUESTION IS BASED ON CHAPTERS 16-18 OF INTO THE WILD BY JOHN KRAKAUER

This is Krakauer's book and that is how Krakauer perceives Chris. Chris certainly had many flaws in his personality but Karakauer is simply narrating how he felt. It is up to the reader to evaluate how reliable a narrator that Krakauer is.
