This question calls for your opinion, there is no right or wrong answer. In my opinion, McCandless thought himself invincible. He believed that he'd answered all the questions and made all of the proper preparations. His actions were daring and dangerous.... thus yes, we might say that he had an overabundance of self-confidence and pride.
