Why do you think McCandless doesn’t develop long-term relationships with people?

This is asking for your opinion rather than mine. I think Chris is lost in his romantic ideas of living alone in nature: of finding some higher ideal of existence that most others are not privy to. It is ironic that, in his last days of life, Chris realizes how much he needs other people.
