At the end of the story, did Karana's sister Ulape, ever make it to Santa Barbara?

It says the ship sunk but I never knew if Ulape made it to the island from a conoe.

We never learn of Ulape's fate.

If only I had not wondered about my sister Ulape, where she was, and if the marks she had drawn upon her cheeks had proved magical.
