Mrs. Fairfax warns Jane against marrying Mr. Rochester because she is concerned about the differences in age and social class.Mrs. Fairfax didn't realize that the two were engaged when Jane allowed Mr. Rochester to kiss her. This might have foreshadowed trouble for the couple later on.
