First of all, Jane was nothing special to look at. She is probably the first heroine who is unconventinally plain looking..... that is to say, she was not conventionally beautiful as the heroines we're used to. Bronte also created in Jane, a heroine who felt deeply, was adventurous, desired excitement, and wanted to work. She was not the conventional, boring, overly emotional female portrayed at the time Bronte wrote the novel. This novel is written from a woman's point of view, which would have been unconventional in itself.
