What role does Johnny play in the struggle of Liberty? (Chapter 5)

There isn't too much about national liberty in chapter 5. Can you be more specific?

Well for my homework the question is for chapter five and the question says "what role does Johnny play in the struggle for liberty?"

I suppose Johnny takes responsibility for his own life if we look at liberty in that way. He gets a job with a newspaper, he learns to write with his left hand....

He begins delivering the Boston Observer, a publication by a group dedicated to eradicating British tyranny.
