I'm not sure what you mean by "glaring" character. Can you explain?
I'd say while Adams is shown is the perfect embodiment of true Christian morality, infused with a thorough sense of charity and brotherhood as well as humanity, he has his lackings - for instance, while he tells Joseph to be temperate in his passions, he himself laments the false rumor of his child's death in a different manner. So while Adams does have a glaring character, it has some faults.
