Brutus displays uncharacteristic behaviors a few different times in the text. To which act and scene are you referring?
Act 4, scene 2 or 3 ^^^
Brutus acts in an uncharacteristic manner because his plans have gone awry, his guilt is more than he can bear, and to act in any other way would cause his demise. He murdered a friend and mentor, he has to justify his actions, his wife is dead, and he believes his friends to be unloyal. He buries himself behind a cloak of no emotion while he reels from it inside.
