Yes, I loved the ending! Chopin plays with our tired old preconceived ideas about love, marriage and the female psyche. The reader is manipulated but by the time he or she figures it out, all is forgiven. I's a delightful ending!
no.its seems not real at all
To me the ending seems contrived. Each paragraph contradicts the next, until the ending which is an attempt to be original, but just comes off as a cheap way to end an obnoxious story. It seems like Chopin couldn't think of a proper ending so she tacked on the part about a heart problem in the beginning just to have a means to kill her off. The story could honestly be passed off a highschool sophmores writing warmup. One where the challenge is to create a character wishy-washy enough that the reader doesn't even care that she just died.
Knowledge of the bullshit Kate Chopin pulled when she wrote this stupid story
