Kate Chopin's Short Stories

Freedom

What are Mrs. Mallard's views on freedom? It is my opinion that the main character Mrs. Mallard reviews freedom as open windows, blue skies, and singing birds. Would you agree or disagree?

Mrs. Mallard sees freedom just outside her window, but for her, freedom lies in the life of a widow...... the freedom from societal expectations. Louise Mallard recognizes that the death of her husband and the subsequent breaking of the marriage tie will leave her an independent woman who is beholden to no one in her actions, she reasons that the end of the obligations of marriage will free her to follow her own desires.
